“We were very glad with Mark Solner’s of Udvari-Solner Design recommendation to consider Joe Hanauer for our exterior landscape design and installation. We undertook an extensive remodel (down to the studs and re-facing of the exterior) and an addition to the house we had been in for over 28 years. We have always taken pride in our previous landscaping installation (our own sweat equity) and maintenance. We are very particular of how the site looks and the care it receives. Therefore, it was important to work with someone who had that same passion. We started with an overall landscape design, but had not settled on our backyard entertainment area design. Joe took the time to meet with us at our convenience on the weekends. Within two meetings, we had achieved a design that we felt maintained our desire for year-round color and visual interest. Of course there were tweaks along the way where we had Joe add in plants that we had seen used elsewhere. He was very accommodating in making revisions. We felt compelled to start the driveway in the Fall of 2014 so we could have access to our garage during the winter. Joe was as meticulous with the installation details as we are with the commercial development and construction we have been involved with. The paver installation looks fantastic and has been in two years without any movement. We then focused on the patio design over the winter and are absolutely thrilled with the results. In the Spring of 2015, his team tackled the patio and the balance of site prep and installation of landscape beds/sod. He crews were a pleasure to work with and were very conscientious of their workmanship. High quality is very important on their checklist. We figured we were going to live in this house for the foreseeable future and made this level of site investment in keeping with the investment within the four walls. The custom paver and stone steps were well worth the investment and are exquisite.
